Leeds Offices Market Update Q4 2016

The Leeds office market tabled total take-up of 138, 624 sq ft in Q4 of 2016. Leeds City Centre take-up totalled 109,682 sq ft across 30 transactions. The largest transactions of the quarter saw Medical Protection Society acquire 22,685 sq ft at 1 Victoria Place, and BDO LLP take 12,755 sq ft at Central Square. Out of Town take-up totalled just 28,942 sq ft (Q4 2015: 98, 490 sq ft), in what continues to be a challenging period for the out of town market. Across the 21 out of town transactions, the largest saw SD Taylor Ltd take 6,105 sq ft at Turnberry Business Park in Morley.


Six things you have to do in Leeds this year

2017 is already in full swing and with Easter fast approaching we have collected a list of six must dos in Leeds city centre this year. There is something for everyone in our list, as we include food, drink, local attractions and culture as well as everything in between. 1. Visit Victoria Gate Leeds’ newest shopping centre opened in October 2016 and is a must visit if you live in the city. The shopping centre’s flagship store is the impressive 170,000 sq ft John Lewis store, spreadacross five floors the shop provides customers with an engaging and entertaining experience. The John Lewis superstore is supported by a further 23 outlets in Victoria Gate, 17 of which are new to Leeds, as well as a number of cafés, bars and restaurants.


Expansion of Leeds property management team

Our Leeds office has further strengthened its property management team with the appointment of two new surveyors. Joining the team are Ceri Hill as senior surveyor and Morigan Wilson as graduate surveyor who will add to the team of 14 currently working in the property management department.


Raft of promotions announced as turnover hits £15million

Following a successful year in 2015-16 we are pleased to announce an increase in turnover to £15m as well as 14 promotions, including eight partners. The turnover increase can be attributed to the continued successful implementation of our strategic growth plan which saw us open our tenth office in Birmingham. Other regional offices were strengthened by an ongoing recruitment campaign which saw our Teesside office move to new premises at Bowesfield Park, Stockton-on-Tees, and our London team doubling in size.

Valuation team boosted with appointment of healthcare specialist

We have recently enhanced our valuation team with the recruitment of James McKelvie, a healthcare sector expert. James McKelvie has been appointed as consultant within the valuation team and brings with him 25 years’ experience in surveying and specialist healthcare advice. The appointment sees James, who previously worked as a valuation surveyor in our Leeds office in the 1990s, bring a combination of regional and national market knowledge of the healthcare property sector to his role.


Office space with residential conversion potential on the market in Birstall

Wesley House, a 10,313sq ft office building in Birstall, West Yorkshire has gone on the market for an asking price of £650,000. Wesley House is a Grade II listed former Wesleyan Chapel that was converted into office accommodation in 1988. The offices are split across four floors with a feature reception area including a spiral staircase.


Howdens Joinery opens new unit at Barsnley Trade Park

Our Leeds-based agency team has let a 10,000 sq ft Barnsley Trade Park unit to Howdens Joinery. Howdens Joinery, the UK’s largest manufacturer and supplier of kitchens and appliances, has let the newly built trade unit on a 10 year lease. Allied Glass to move to new premises at Wakefield Europort

Allied Glass, the premium glass packaging manufacturer, is moving to new premises at Wakefield Europort, the region’s leading logistics and distribution centre. Allied Glass has taken the 189,142 sq ft Eurohub facility, located on California Way, on a 10-year lease. The newly refurbished property, which includes 176,013 sq ft of warehouse space and 13,129 sq ft of office space, will be primarily used for bottle decoration and storage. Allied Glass design, develop and manufacture premium glass packaging for leading brands in the food and drinks sector.
