Riverside offices let to Newcastle architects following their expansion

Acting on behalf of ACE, our North East agency team has let an office space at Newcastle Business Park to local architects Sadler Brown.

The 1,015 sq ft office building is located at Riverside Studios, on the Northern bank of the River Tyne approximately half a mile to the West of Newcastle City Centre.

The Sadler Brown Group agreed the deal following the recent announcement of their acquisition of Anthony Keith Architects, another Newcastle based architecture firm.

Charlotte Marshall, agent in our Newcastle office commented, “We are pleased to have secured the Sadler Brown Group as a tenant for ACE at Riverside Studio following significant interest in the property.

SBG’s acquisition of Anthony Keith Architects follows a number of recent national contracts won by the design company. Having already occupied 2,200 sq ft of office space on Riverside Studios just 12 months ago, this further office expansion will facilitate the company’s continued development, with such offices being ideally suited for those requiring flexible office space.”

June Deals Update

During May we were delighted to announce the appointment of three new shareholding partners. Christian Humphreys head of our asset based lending team, Matthew Lawrence head of our property management team and Mark Sheridan head of our Bristol office all became shareholders, bringing our total number to 28. With the holiday season fast approaching our North West asset advisory and recovery team completed the sale of three guest houses in Southport, a large seaside town in Merseyside on the coast of the Irish Sea. Across the Pennines, in Yorkshire we have recently brought a number of properties to market, including a Grade II listed building with development potential in Skipton and request for offers on an income producing office investment in the heart of Leeds city centre. In North Yorkshire our agency team sold a large 26,592 sq ft industrial unit in Castlevale Park, part of the Gatherley Road Industrial Estate in Catterick. In Bristol we have recently expanded our team with the appointment of Chris Howell as associate partner. Commenting on his appointment, Chris said, “I am delighted to be joining Sanderson Weatherall and look forward to developing both property management and agency services in the South-West.” Our building consultancy team recently helped provide St John’s the Evangelist Church in East Witton with a new lease of life thanks to repair and maintenance work carried out earlier this year.

Northumbrian water confirmed as new Spectrum tenant

Acting on behalf of Spectrum Business Park, our Newcastle agency team has let two of the three floors of Spectrum 5 to Northumbrian Water. Spectrum Business Park is one of the region's fastest growing business parks and following the letting of 27,000 sq ft to Northumbrian Water, the park is now over 75% occupied. John McGovern, Head of Asset Delivery at Northumbrian Water, said: “This move will create one central hub for our infrastructure teams and gives us the opportunity to work closer with our framework partners under one roof. Moving into Spectrum 5 will strengthen the collaborative working relationships we have and ultimately help deliver an unrivalled service to all our customers. “After looking at a number of locations around the North East, we felt Spectrum Business Park ticked all the boxes in terms of location, quality of office space, transport links and parking, which were all major influencing factors given how many people will be based here.”

Newcastle property management team attend time capsule burial event at Newgate Centre site

Representatives from our Newcastle property management team recently attended an event to commemorate the city reaching the milestone of 800 years with a mayor. The event was held at the Newgate Centre, a landmark £100million regeneration project in Newcastle City Centre, being undertaken by our management clients, McAleer and Rushe. At the event Newcastle Lord Mayor Hazel Stephenson and Councillor Ged Bell buried a time capsule that will not be opened for another 80 years. The capsule contains a number of objects aiming to give an insight into Newcastle city life in 2017 and includes a Royal Mint coin set and a Newcastle United scarf, following their promotion to the premier league.
