Rating headline and deadlines: two final dates for changes to the 2010 List

Published on: 20th September 2017 In April this year we saw the first business rates revaluation in seven years. The revaluation changed the amount that millions of businesses across the country will pay in business rates. It also came with a raft of headlines concerning what impact the new appeals process; Check Challenge Appeal (CCA) and Valuation Office Agency (VOA) job cuts, will have on how businesses can appeal their business rates. But amongst all the recent noise, we haven’t heard much about the final appeal deadlines relating to the previous Rating List. Residential Update: Registering your appliances

Published on: 18th September 2017 If you have purchased a large appliance in the past four or five years then you will probably have received a small card asking you to register your appliance. Do not worry if you have ignored the card or perhaps thrown it away without realising, you are not in the minority, in England only 43 per cent of people register their appliances with a manufacturer. Nowadays you can purchase a large appliance such as a washing machine, fridge freezer or dishwasher without providing the manufacturer with any of your contact details. By registering your product with the manufacturer you enable them to get in touch should they need to.

Published on: 11th September 2017 Dan Pugh, marketing executive in our Leeds office recently sat down with the team at Leeds City Magazine to discuss exactly what it's like living and working in Leeds city centre, you can read the full interview below: Hi Dan, can you just tell us a bit about yourself and how you started working at Sanderson Weatherall? I started at Sanderson Weatherall just under two years ago following the completion of my marketing degree at Aberystwyth University – don’t worry, I didn’t know where it was to begin with either! It’s a small coastal town in Wales and by moving to Leeds I really was jumping from one extreme to the other. I went from a town with a population of just over 12,000 to the fourth largest city in the UK, and I haven’t looked back since. Originally from Dorset in the South of England, I didn’t really know what to expect from Leeds when I moved here, but I quickly found my feet and relished the opportunity to explore the city. As a self-confessed foodie I must admit that the majority of this involved making my way between the number of food and drink places that Leeds has to offer.

Planners give green light to first New Peak District National Park hotel in 66 years

Published on: 8th September 2017 The Peak District National Park is set to have its first new build hotel since the park was created in 1951, following a landslide decision by planners for a new tourist development. The development will provide an important additional visitor facility and hotel for the National Park, which gets 12 million visitors each year, and currently suffers from an immense undersupply of hotel accommodation.

Jury's Inn Hotel in Newcastle sold in investment deal worth £20million

Published on: 6th September 2017 Palace Capital, a UK property investment company, have acquired SM Newcastle in an investment deal worth £20million. SM Newcastle own a number of freehold assets in the North East, including Mcleer and Rushe's 1,2 and 3 St James Gate and the adjoining Jurys Inn Hotel, in Newcastle City Centre.
