We try very hard through our business activities to ensure we maintain our position as one of the leading firms of independent Chartered Surveyors and Property Consultants in the country.
We fully recognise that our business activities directly and indirectly impact on the environment, our people, our clients and suppliers and the wider community – and have therefore developed our Corporate Social Responsibility policy to focus on these particular strands.
We promote Environmental Responsibility throughout the business and all our offices operate a certified ISO 14001 Environmental Management System. The firm has policies and procedures in place to reduce overall waste to UK landfill and increase the level of recycling in respect of resource consumption. We have committed to monitor and reduce energy usage within our office based operations and promote sustainability in transport by reducing the CO² emissions of our vehicular fleet as well as actively to encourage the use of public transport and participation in the firm's 'cycle 2 work' scheme.
We also recognise that we are in a position to influence our clients to adopt sustainable and more environmentally responsible practices in the development and subsequent use of land, and procedures to help, remind and encourage all staff to promote this are incorporated within the firm's Quality Assurance Practice Area Instructions and our integrated Quality and Environmental Management System.
Over the years, the firm has established an enviable record for the high quality of training given to the staff and this is widely recognised in the industry by our clients and competitors alike. We provide, and will strive to maintain, a clean, healthy and safe working environment in line with our occupational health and safety management system, which is certified under OHSAS 18001.
We recognise that a better integration of Corporate Responsibility into the firm's sourcing policies and procurement process is a way to more effectively manage risk that may otherwise arise in the supply chain.
We shall ensure a high level of business performance while minimising and effectively managing risk ensuring that we uphold the values of honesty, partnership and fairness in our relationships with all our stakeholders. Our contracts aim to clearly set out the agreed terms, conditions and the basis of our relationship and operate in a way that safeguards against unfair business practices.
We encourage our suppliers and contractors to adopt responsible business and financial policies and practices. We commit to registering and resolving any customer complaints in accordance with our standards of service.
Our work directly and indirectly affects the way the wider community lives, behaves and develops and we firmly believe that our business should make a positive contribution to the society in which we live.
We support and encourage our employees to help local community organisations and activities in our regions, particularly our employee chosen charities, and we are very proud that many of our employees take part in a wide range of volunteering activities across the country.
To ensure that all SW employees are able to offer their time to support a project in their local area, the firm has introduced a CSR Mandate, meaning that staff members from any area of the business and across all our offices are each able to contribute up to 14 hours per year to community volunteering opportunities and activities facilitated by the firm. We have also introduced an internal Volunteer Centre which enables staff to easily locate information on up and coming opportunities to engage in community challenges, projects or pro bono activity.
We regularly work with local schools, colleges and universities to assist young people in choosing their future careers, being an advocate for our industry.
All members of the firm are encouraged to participate in charitable fund raising events and, over the years, we have supported numerous charities with local, national and international aims, objectives and interests.

Sanderson Weatherall LLP is fully owned by the shareholding partners that all actively participate in the day to day management and operation of the business and engage in fee earning work. All the shareholders are committed to ensuring that the business is managed in a financially responsible and sustainable manner.
They recognise and aim to fully meet their responsibilities and obligations to stakeholders - including their clients, fellow Partners, the staff, pensioners and the Pension Fund Trustees, as well as the firm's suppliers and any trade creditors.
We take seriously all feedback that we receive from our stakeholders and, where possible, maintain open dialogue to ensure that we fulfil the requirements outlined within this policy.
We shall be open and honest in communicating our strategies, targets, performance and governance to our stakeholders in our continual commitment to sustainable development. The Executive Board are responsible for the implementation of this policy and will make the necessary resources available to realise our corporate responsibilities. Our Environmental and other objectives under this policy will be developed as part of the business planning cycle.
The responsibility for our performance on this policy will be monitored by our CSR Manager and rests with all employees throughout the company.
