Sanderson Weatherall’s annual bike ride continues to raise thousands for charity
A team of seventeen property experts from across the Sanderson Weatherall LLP offices have completed a gruelling three day, 173 mile bike ride to raise money for three charities.
The group completed the 173 mile Reivers Route - the northernmost of the English coast to coast cycle routes. Reivers starts in Whitehaven before skirting across the top of the Lake District (with the occasional foray into Scotland) and then through Northumberland and wilds of Kielder Forest before finishing in Tynemouth. The ride became particularly challenging due to stormy weather and record high temperatures, which caused significant disruption to other parts of the UK over the weekend.
The SW team have raised funds for three charities which were chosen by staff at the property firm. 4Louis, a County Durham based charity supporting bereaved parents; Steps Charity a national charity supporting individuals and the families of those with lower limb conditions, and Martin House Hospice, a children’s hospice based in Yorkshire. Aidan King, Associate Partner with SW and organiser of this year’s trip said “I think the route was more challenging than most had envisaged at the outset – and the changing weather conditions didn’t make things easier either. We are all delighted to have all finished without serious casualty though and are so pleased that the event has been able to raise much needed funds for the three charities concerned”. Over the past six years, the firm has raised over £24,000 for charities through their annual bike ride event, including last year when the team cycled 200 miles from York, via Beverley, to Whitby and back.
