Stepping into exotic territory with £250K persian rug auction

Published on: 19th November 2014

We're used to advising clients on all manner of deals, sales and negotiations, but this month we're doing something completely different – advising on the sale of a stock of Persian and Oriental rugs with a retail value of £300,000.

We're hosting the online auction of the surplus stock of some 200 rugs until noon on December 4, 2014. The rugs are all genuine hand-knotted and woven, and range in value from just a few hundred pounds up to £7,000 retail price.

Robert Weston, valuer for Sanderson Weatherall, said: “This is the first time that we have ever been involved in the sale of Persian rugs, so it is a new experience for the firm as well as a unique opportunity for anyone interested in these pieces.

“These carpets are beautiful, and as they are handwoven each rug is a true one of a kind. Interested buyers have chance to purchase something that could well become a family heirloom as well as a striking feature in their home.”

Persian carpets are renowned for their beauty, quality and ability to stand the test of time, often being passed down from generation to generation. This collection includes a variety of designs, including durable and highly prized Bakhtiari and Heriz carpets, high quality Mashhad carpets, smaller Baluch carpets, as well as a variety of runners, mats, cushions and salt bags.

Anyone interested should contact Robert Weston.
