Cartel letting breathes new life into Stockton High Street
Stockton High Street has been given a boost thanks to the opening of a new designer clothing store.
Our Teesside office acted as agents for the property’s landlord and we managed to secure a 10 year lease to owners Jason Wilton and Gary McCarten. The store, Cartel, opened in September.
With big brands such as Boss, Paul Smith and Stone Island, and the backing of snooker champion Mark Selby and boxer Joe Calzaghe, Cartel is looking to draw in the designer crowd and is already attracting celebrities such as the cast of Geordie Shore and professional footballers. There are also local labels like Gregory James – co-owned by reigning indoor 60m World and European champion, Richard Kilty, who officially opened the store.
Cartel’s co-owner, Jason Wilton, said: “After doing a lot of research we realised that there has been a gap in the market for top of the range clothing within Stockton. We are very pleased that we can offer these services locally.”
Gary McCarten added: “We wanted to bring high-end men’s clothing to the Stockton area as it is a real passion of ours, and we know that there is plenty of demand for our offering – that’s been proven by the footfall we’ve had so far.”
“Working with Sanderson Weatherall meant that the process of letting the property was smooth and simple and we are now very excited for the future of Cartel.”
Our first-hand experience and great understanding of the local market ensured that our agency specialists were the best placed to provide a smooth letting process on behalf of the private landlord.
Commenting on the deal, George Williams, a surveyor in our Teesside office , said: “As a Teesside business we are always happy to see signs of growth on our high streets and this could be the start of a new era for Stockton. Attracting this kind of investment to the area is a positive step and will certainly attract visitors to the town, benefiting the wider business community.”
