Business as usual despite concerns over future of Phase 2 of HS2

Published on: 20th November 2018 Following Chris Grayling’s controversial announcement earlier this month that the Northern Leg of HS2 is “not in the bag”, Richard Farr, head of our compulsory purchase team shares his views on the future of HS2 North of Birmingham. Phase 1, the line from London to Birmingham has been approved and is due to complete in 2026 but progress of Phase 2b, Crewe to Manchester and the West Midlands to Leeds has now been thrown into question. Schedules of Condition for Commercial Landlords

Published on: 14th November 2018 Recently we have been instructed to prepare a number of schedule of condition reports for landlords and administrators of industrial and commercial property. Traditionally a tenant would want a schedule of condition when they move in to a new property to protect them from dilapidations claims for pre-existing building issues during or at the end of the lease term. Schedules of condition can however, be beneficial for landlords as well.

Post Budget rates boost as staircase tax formally axed

Published on: 5th November 2018 Thousands of firms across England will be able to ask for tax rebates to their business rates bills going back as far as 2010 with the Queen today having given Royal Assent to turn the bill to reverse the effects of the so called Staircase Tax into an Act of Parliament.
