Working for McAleer and Rushe Group, the task was to refurbish and modernise the expansive reception area of 2 St James Gate. Our architecture team created the visual concept for the entrance and reception space which was designed to reflect the high quality of the development while creating a striking first impression.

The refurbishment project was managed by our facilities management team, and the spectacular design was created by architectural assistant Gillian Smith.  The collaboration between the architecture and property management departments allowed Sanderson Weatherall to deliver this impressive project from the initial design stage all the way through to the final fit-out.

The refit involved redecorating work along with the installation of a corian-made reception desk. The newly-designed space also includes a digital wall covering showing a city scape of Newcastle's famous landmarks which completes the high-end design.

Commenting on the design and refurbishment, Stephen Davey of McAleer and Rushe Group said, “2 St James’ Gate provides excellent office space in a much sought after prime city centre location. Our property management team were instructed to refurbish and modernise the internal common areas of an office block in the heart of Newcastle city centre.  The common areas in the building were considered old fashioned and were made up largely of heavy wood panelling.

We brightened up the dull areas by installing better lighting, re-carpeting and we were also able to commission a range of photographs to be exhibited in the main entrance foyer. We revitalised the original wood panelling by using a lighter paint tone to match the general change in appearance.

We were able to complete the project without causing excessive disruption to the tenants, who welcomed the complete transformation of the space.
