Yours Clothing expands into the South West

Our Bristol building consultancy team has been instrumental in undertaking the necessary ground work for Yours Clothing’s expansion into the South West of England.

The high-street fashion brand’s expansion includes the opening of its new store in Plymouth, which required pre-acquisition surveys undertaking in a relatively short timeframe.

Derihon Coquard, business development manager at Yours Clothing, commented: “We’re very excited to have expanded into Plymouth and Sanderson Weatherall has been instrumental in us meeting that objective.

“What has impressed us the most was the speed and efficiency with which the pre-acquisition survey was undertaken, as it was complete in little under a fortnight.”

The new three storey retail unit on New George Street in Plymouth provides two floors of retail space at approximately 5,500 sq ft.

In 2013, following the prolonged recession H.J.Knee made the decision to move from their Trowbridge town centre premises, which they had occupied for over 130 years. The decision was made to retain the town centre buildings and we were subsequently appointed to undertake a feasibility study to investigate the alternative uses for the 20,000 sq ft retail property.

To improve the marketability of the property, we advised H.J.Knee to split the property into three smaller units. Following approval of the scheme we prepared tender documentation for H.J.Knee and provided professional advice on design of the new units.

We appointed and managed the contractors for the work to ensure that the project was delivered within budget, on time and to the highest of quality standards for the incoming tenants.

Yogaworks London benefits from integrated service offering

A team led by head of our planning department, Owen Pike, have been instrumental in bringing a new 3,947 sq ft yoga facility to Wandsworth, London. Working alongside YogaWorks London, we provided a hat-trick of integrated services including town planning, agency and architecture. Now complete, the facility will officially open later this month.

Owen and the team were extremely professional and achieved a great result in a very efficient way. I hope they will one day come and enjoy a class of their own.”

Our three-pronged strategy saw us undertake a bespoke initial planning appraisal to ascertain the premises’ potential to be converted from retail to leisure use, followed by concept plans being prepared by our architecture and agency teams. After receipt of planning permission from the local authority, YogaWorks retained us to discharge the pre-commencement conditions attached to the permission.

Owen Pike, associate partner in our Bristol office said: “The location of the property meant acquiring planning permission was not as straightforward as it could be. Due to the property being in an out-of-centre location, we undertook a sequential assessment to establish whether there were any alternative properties in a different location.

“Once we confirmed that there were no alternatives, we were able to progress with the process of applying for planning permission and I’m delighted that YogaWorks has found just the property it was looking for.”
